We offer an assortment of specially seasoned and aged steaks hand-cut daily in every restaurant and cooked to order over open gas-fired grills. We also offer our customers, whom we call our guests, a selection of ribs, fish, chicken and vegetable plates, an assortment of hamburgers, salads and sandwiches. The majority of our "entrees" include two made-from-scratch side items, and we offer all our guests a free unlimited supply of in-shell peanuts and made-from-scratch yeast rolls. As of October 30, 2006, 242 Texas Roadhouse restaurants were operating in 43 states. We owned and operated 154 restaurants in 33 states, and franchised and licensed an additional 88 restaurants in 22 states.
Founded in 1993 by W. Kent Taylor, Chairman, the total number of Texas Roadhouse company and franchise restaurants has increased from 92 restaurants at year-end 2000 to 221 restaurants as of the end of 2005, representing a 19.2% compounded annual growth rate. Over the same period, our revenue increased from $115.8 million to $458.8 million, our income from operations increased from $10.8 million to $47.3 million, and our net income increased from $5.8 million to $30.3 million, representing compounded annual growth rates of 31.7%, 34.4% and 39.4%, respectively.
Mr. Colosi joined Texas Roadhouse as Chief Financial Officer in September 2002. From 1992 until 2002, Mr. Colosi was employed by YUM Brands, Inc., owner of the KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell brands. During this time, Mr. Colosi served in various financial positions and prior to joining Texas Roadhouse was Director of Investor Relations. From 1987 to 1992 Mr. Colosi was employed by Burger King Corporation in a variety of financial positions. Mr. Colosi received a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Georgia and MBA from the University of Miami.
